95 Sidekick idle problem
« on: October 18, 2011, 01:55:27 PM »
As in title 1.6 16 valve 2 wheel drive. Has been running great, then yesterday idle started staying at 1500. With the air bleed I can get it down to 1200 rpm. It also has started to bounce from 1000-2000. I've checked for vacum leaks but nothing found. Not sure if could be  the TPS or the ECM starting to go up. Any Ideas anyone?

Exhaust leak, IAC valve not working right (out of spec), EGR valve and/or passages clogged/restricted, is what I'd be looking at.
The ECMs usually don't go bad on 95s.  But anything is possible.

Ok I have what seems to be the "normal" exhaust manifold crack on #4 tube. Waiting for inflow of cash to get the shorty header for that problem. Egr valve was loose again and sensor on top loose too, both have been tightened up again. IAT I'll have to pull and check out,it might be leaking around rubber gasket in cold air set-up.

Sorry, I meant the IAC (idle air control) valve, not the IAT (intake air temperature) sensor.
To test the IAC, all you need to do is unplug the wiring connector and test the internal coil resistance of the sensor.
