I am trying replace the rear shoes on my 89 Tracker.
I have all the nuts off,5 lug and 4 drum? bolts.
Its not budging,I have not try much force / hammer at this point.
Before I break something by increasing force [its coming] ,is there something I am missing?
I will assume they have been on a while.
I hope someone is online,I am working on it now,trying to get done tonight.
Going 4-wheelin this weekend with or without brakes.

Smack the outside edge of drum a couple times with hammer.  They tend to stick together (rust), and vibrations should break them loose.  I have had to use a slide hammer on the wheel studs to get them off.

e-brake off? 

you could get an old wheel and bolt it up and smack the back of the wheel with a mallet or sludge as you turn the wheel.

That is the way I do it (but I use a sledge  ).  Also, spray the center of the drum/axle with wd40/whatever before you start hammering.

Slide hammer always use to work for me. Now I have rear discs, screw those useless drum brakes!

A little pry bar action,and a couple of well placed "SMACKS" , and BINGO !
The best part is I worked til midnight to finish up.Got all done with both sides.New whl cyl's , shoes etc.
Thats when I noticed I had installed a "BOXED WRONG" left whl cyl. [its a right side].  LOL
So today its back apart with the left side,we will try again.

I cant believe my Tracker will have brakes for the first time.I wont know what to do.

I recently did my rears due to a blown wheel cylinder. Used GM/Delco red shoes, nice to have good brakes and a very effective e brake!

It must be all the sandy water up here in the Pine Barrens but I used to go through wheel cylinders by the carton. 

last i had mine done i learned a trick from my buddy, take the 4 bolts off for the axle then reinstall the lug nuts loosely, then yank on the wheel, only moves a 1/4 inch, but its enough weight to dislodge the drum.

did my last when one wheel cylinder started to leak, shoes were close enough to just change while i had it apart.
did both cylinders and new shoes. drums were like new still.
