92 tracker lift for 33 light wheeling
« on: April 25, 2011, 06:25:17 AM »
Ok guys I'm new to the trackick world. I own a jeep liberty diesel that was my wheeler and didn't want to tear it as it was my daily driver. I found a 92 for 200 bucks that the guy said needs fuel press regulator.  But now I'm wanting to know where to start looking as to what to do for lift for 33. The only reason I want 33 is I have a like new set and some 15x8 and 15x10 wheels. Any help you can give me would be awesome thanks Nate

well lets say u have unlimited funds, go solid axle,or go with altered egos kit, now lets say limited funds u could go 2"-3" BL jeff's or mudchilds spacer lift and a sawzall that will fit 33's but u wont have much power unless you change your gears
new rig aka "the mule" 2002 tracker
V6 swap auto  ,2 dr ,2" BL,2" jeffs kit 512 gears warn hubs and 30/9.5/15 BFG AT

ur either gonna need to go up high or do a mod to move the wheels forward to clear 33's.... I had the same idea when i started... a stock tracker and a set of new 33's.... but just so youu know, a stock tracker can clear 30" tires without rubbing, I have had 4 different trackers and have done different mods to each of them, you can clear 33's on a stocker if u wanna get out a sledgehammer and move the footwell back about 2"  :) you will still have to deal with lots of rubbing even then....

Well I see. Maybe I will look into trading these tires for a little smaller size. I have done sas on a s10 but man I don't want to go through that. How much work is involved in sas on a tracker and what all is needed for a leaf setup. Aren't these things equipped with rack and pinion steering

The rack an pinion isn't until the 99 models.  Just a standard steering box, you would just need to swap the arm out.  Calmini should be coming out with a bolt on kit for Samurai axles, others have used YJ springs on the front.

What sort of trails are you looking to run?

Mainly we have dirthills and such about like 4 wheeler trails. I live 20 min from redbird here in Indiana. Attica is about 1 1/2 hours away. They have slot of rocks and such. Nothing wild and extreme until I get my sas done but that will be a while ad I will fab all my own stuff for it. I have a set of Dana 44 out of a 74 or 5 scout that have some 5.33 gears in them but can't remember if they are passenger drop or not

If you keep these things light and don't build them up to much they will go just about everywhere with very little breakage.  It's when you start building them up to be big wheeling rigs that they start to break or run into scope creep where things keep getting added on.

But it is fun to build them up, I'll give you that.  :D  Let us know what your final build plan is.

I will for sure be putting a roll cage in that will make the rear passengers safe. Other plans are a lift and dont know on tires yet. Bumpers for sure and I'm looking in to Bobbin flaring the front and rear but making the the rear seat still usable

How do you get ahold of that guy I'm curios on how he lifted the front. It looks really straight forward but I want to make sure

i just did the frame chop to my 94 geo, it was fairly straightforward, I stretched it 4.5" and lowered it 4.5", it was a very simple deal, however it involves relocating motor mounts, front body mounts, brake line brackets (The brake lines will not have to be modified, just the location that they mount through the body), radiator support brackets, bumpers, and extending the steering shaft and front driveshaft.

Its also a good idea to add a front strut tower bracke at this time....

Now I can now fit 35 x 13.5 x 15" tires on it with no rubbing lock to lock. (massive trimming in the front portion of the fender required.) But my normal tires will be 33" x 13.5" Pitbull Rockers.

The back was whole different can of beans......
