Where do you guys mount your front plate?

I've got the Shrockworks bumper on my Kick. I've got a polished hawse fairlead on my bumper, so I can't clip it onto the rollers like some do. So far, there isn't a great place to mount it.

Any suggestions? Where do you guys run your plate?

I drilled 2 holes in the lower lip of my cousins bumper matching the holes in the plate and used hog rings to suspend the plate and it free swings below the bumper. 

If you are going to mount the front plate, it must be visible when you drive. Although the hinge is a good idea, it may get you cited if you really need it.

Another way is to to use a spring loaded mount in front of the winch. Some of these even have an included step. A cheap one is off an older car that filled behind the rear plate.

Plus you would have the bonus of keeping the Crap out of the winch line!

I used an old stand-by...zip ties.  Four of them, they don't rust and the solution keeps the State Patrol happy.

How about slapping it on the inside of the passenger side of the windshield.  I see folks around here do that sort of thing all the time.  Down low on the far right and if you are worried about it falling down use a piece of clear packing tape along the top and side.

The Trooper that pulled me over said the plate I had attached to the passenger side visor wasn't visible to him when I drove past.  Don't know if it was glare or what, but I would advise against interior solution based on my 'conversation' with him.

I did that for a week before a trooper pulled me over, there wasnt any factory license plate mount on my Sidekick, so I just used 2 drywall screws into the bumper cover right in front of the trooper, he wasnt impressed and still wrote me the ticket, I told the trooper no problems, that i was going to the judges house directly and have him dismiss it. I dont think he actually thought I was going there, but he followed me and was very pissed when the judge told the trooper to stop being an ass about such crap and to look for actual criminals.


Currently i have the plate centered on the bumper cover, but I have a 120w LED light bar coming and it will be mounted exactly where I have the plate now, so i will mount the plate to the upper horizontal portion of the bull/push bar from the backside.

I could see if it was on the back side of the visor as there would be an air gap between it and the glass that could provide possiblity for glare issues. I just wonder if you had it stuck to the back side of the glass directly if that would help.  Given that the windshields on these things are so vertical in slope. I guess that I will get to deal with this very delima soon enough.  I ordered a winch bumper back at Halloween that will hopefully be arriving by St. Pats day(long story from vendor/manufacture).  I personally am thinking the lower section on the front angle that "shrockworks" cuts their name into would be a suitable place since I didn't order one of theirs.$$$
 Of course the other option would be to move to a different state that doesn't require the front plate 

i know ive been hit for that ticket. had mine in the windshield down at the dash. cop pulled me over, i even showed him the stock mounting bolts were broken off in the weldnuts in the bumper. had had the plate like that for a while. had to wire tie it to the bumper and take it in for them to pass it.

ive got a zor bumper sitting here for it. was going to thread two holes off to the side for it to mount to but instead am moving back out to alberta where it doesnt need a front plate!

Well, I think I'll either drill a a couple of holes in the passenger's side of the bumper and mount it there. No ticket yet (knock on wood), but it's only a matter of time if I don't mount it. I had thought of some industrial-strength Velcro, but I have a feeling that's not going to hold.

I mounted mine on my winch cover.  Two screws and cover and plate come off, don't need plate when winching.
