mix and mash trans
« on: April 12, 2012, 07:59:05 PM »
Can you mix and match the internals for a 5 spd that was in 2wd w/ 4x4 ?

I know the back section will have to swap over and am guessing the main shaft is different but didn't know about the counters and shift forks.

Trying to see if I can use parts from a 90-91(vin N for year) 2wd with my 96 (vin T) 4wd

Plan on getting new brgs and prob syncros.

Thanks

I don't have part numbers, to compare the two, but I believe the output shaft is the main (maybe only) difference on the tranny internals, between a 2wd and 4wd.

BTW, VIN "N"=1992,
Tracker and Sidekick parts for sale.....PM me with your wants/needs.

Thanks for the year update.  Couldn't remember which letters wern't used.  I am going t o check w/ a trans part supplier in the next week or so when I order parts and will let everyone know if they say anything different.
