H25a to replace a g16b

Hi all,

I have the chance to buy a stat write of 1999 Grand Vitara. Its a manual with a H25a full rebuilt motor in it (less then 2000km's) for a price no one could refuse.

Over the years, I have heard of people fitting the H25a and H27A into a normal vitara/Tracker. However, I have never seen a thread of the actual conversion and what is neccessary.

Does anyone know what needs to be done....obviously engine mounts

How about Gearbox mounts?
What gearbox do I use (GV or mine)?
whats the difference in gearbox/t-case lengths? (will I need to move the gearbox back..new tailshafts etc)
Fuel pump? is the stock tank able to cater?

Any threads containing this conversion would be ever so helpful!

There are quite a few V6 Trackers running around with either the 2.5 or 2.7l engine.  Having ridden in BRD HNTR's I can tell you they are fast.  :)  Here is a link to BRD HNTR's build.  I forget what page he starts the V6 conversion.  But feel free to ask any questions.

Are you looking to keep the IFS front end or swap to a solid axle?  With the GV you will want to use the GV transmission, but use your stock transfer case.  Stock pump will work without an issue, and I believe you will have to build new engine mounts.

Also check out http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/build-diaries-how-to-diy/mr-t-the-build/.  He was help when I did mine.
It requires a lot of patience. The important thing is get ALL the wiring and computers you can.  Then get a  FSM for the year motor you have.  In an older Kicker it is an extremely tight fit especially on the bottom end if you are keeping IFS, might consider some form of body lift.
