I'm working on swapping a 1.6 tracker motor into my buddies 89 Sammi and he would also like the Tracker p/s put in as well. Has anyone put in the p/s from a Tracker and what is involved. It doesn't appear that the bolt pattern on the steering box is the same for one. Any input would be great.

The easiest way to do it is pick up a bracket to adapt the power steering unit.  You can see two different versions over at:

The difference between them is pretty well laid out on the page:

The Wedge provides the proper alignment for the Gear Box to keep your steering column in line. and also moves the gear box forward just a bit for better drag link positioning. With this you can use the factory rag joint if you want.
 
The Flat bracket will require a bit of mofification to you radiator support and saves you just a little money. The rag joint eliminator is required with this bracket. Your factory rag joint will not work.

So basically with the flat one you will need to swap from a rag joint to a u-joint setup and your steering box will be crooked.  You can also just drill out your frame or build your own brackets.

Thanks for that info Drone. One other thing, is the Sammi rad adequate for cooling the 1.6 or should I be looking at trying to make the Tracker rad fit?

I would look at putting a pusher fan on the front of the Sammy radiator, then you should be fine.  If you are worried about it then pick up an Aluminum radiator for the Samurai.  They usually have the same cooling rates as the Tracker radiator and you don't have to rebuild all of your mounts.  I can get a part number from a buddy running the 16v conversion if you want.

Stock radiator?

My opinion is that it is very marginal.  I have wheeled alot of the south west and the stock radiator was not up to the task when driving slow for long periods even with a pusher fan. once I was going up a canyon with about a 8 mile an hour tail wind and I had to turn around to get it to cool.  I went with the aluminum radiator from TT because it is every difficult to get the tracker radiator in the sammy with power steering.  But to put a disclaimer on this, I was looking at a radiator from a four door 16V.  since then i noticed that are smaller ones.  I think it is th 8V 2 doors.
