sj410 vs. 86 samurai

 i am new to zuki's and i have a 83 sj410 and i am not sure if the parts are interchangable or not because i cant seem to find anything on the 83 in any place i look amd im looking to lift my sj so any help would be great

Just assume that nothing transfers over and everything will have to be done by scratch or custom ordered.  It will make things easier.  If you need any parts just call Hawk Suzuki, as they are one of the few places that stock parts for the SJ-410 in the US and know what the differences are.

You can use the lift kits, as the springs are the same between the Samurai and SJ-410.  But your axles are 3" shorter, your springs sit 1.5" further inbound, you have 4.10 gears and 10% lower t-case gearing in both high and low ranges.  You also have a drive-line ebrake on the back of the t-case, that will bolt straight up to a Sammy t-case.

If you plan on wheeling it I recommend swapping axles and getting a Samurai T-Case for the better low range gears.  Or even better, find a Samurai to build up and wheel and keep the SJ-410 close to stock.

That being said, I love my SJ-410.  It goes just about anywhere, the motor is bullet proof if a bit underpowered, and it is simple to work on.  But it's gone through a lot of trail and error since I first bought it.
