Rear End Bang on Bumps
« on: November 20, 2011, 01:07:41 PM »
So I'm on the road and hit a good bump and it sounds like a loud band, almost like I bottom out, or i'm so stiff it doesn't sound good. Running everything stock except 31" tires at 30 psi. I know I'm not bottoming out. The body mounts look OK and I think the bushings at the springs look OK too. Any Ideas or is this normal??

How much lift are you running?  You might be hitting the bottom of your fenders.

If you are running longer shocks, they can be bottoming out before you get to the bump stops.  I have that problem, and it seems harder at highway speeds and not much of a bump.
Disconnect the bottom of a back shock, then jack up that side until you get the tire stuffed or hit bump stop, and see of you can replace the shock.

30 PSI in a Sammi with 10.5x31 tyres are way too much. I run 10 to 15 PSI with my 10.5 x 31's
The standard tyres 205/70 the PSI is like 23 psi in the front and 26 psi in the back laden.

Now with that said get a few friends and bump the Sammi to see if you can reproduce the sound
you try to locate the source.
