I just pulled out the suitcase muffler on my 01 Tracker 2.0 4 door and replaced it with a 14" Magnaflow muffler and the difference in power is VERY noticable. I've never got 2nd gear rubber before ;D I left the cat's in place so it has a nice rumble but is not loud. I would highly recommend this as a great low buck hp boost.

We did that on our '03 GV.  Simple replacement of the stock muffler with a straight through muffler and man was it different.  Wife immediately noticed the difference in power.  It's in the plans for our XL7.

Thanks for the post!

I have a 4 cylinder automatic (wife can't drive stick and refuses to learn...) so any power upgrade I can find is definetely appreciated!

My only question...  Does this conversion make the truck sound like one of those souped up sewing machine Honda's or does it have a nice deep sound?  I don't want to sound like a punk driving around...

Deep but more like a high revving BMW or the last GTO's stock exhaust.  It's not a V-engine so it won't exactly be throaty but you will defiitely not sound like a rice rocket.  Well, long as you don't put a fart can muffler on it with a 6" tip.

That's subjective to people's tastes and desires.

I prefer Magnaflows for their stainless steel shell, straight through design (no baffles like Slowmaster) and decent price.

Ours was just the 2.5" in/out stainless Magnaflow with the inlet centered and the outlet offset to one side.  Forget the model number but it should be pretty easy to figure out.  Was about 14-18" long.  Had to put about a foot worth of tubing in since the factory muffler is so long.
