Do you have to remove the timing cover(s) to get to the water pump on the 2.5 V6?

According to the Suzuki FSM, you do.  I'm not surprised, because that's the case on the Mazda K series, from which the Suzuki engine was developed.
'98 GV V6, '96 X-90 with RRO 2.5" lift and 195/80 R15, '93 Cappuccino.
