weird front end noise
« on: August 21, 2012, 11:08:19 AM »
i am hearing a weird noise wile driving in the passenger side front area, i have checked the front end a wille ago and both side wheel bearing was bad, i got them changed today. but wen driving i still hear it, it only dose it sumtimes, its like a rub and grind noise, almost exactly like a worn wheel bearing, but like i said it only dose it a few time. dosent make worst if i turn one side or the other. so far the only thing i can imagine it could be the front diff??? the diff oil is very clear, no sign of leaks, i do have a busted cv shaft on the driver side but i cant see that making that noise..

anybody had this before? i think it is a bit worst on a ruff road too, only does it at a good speed as well

if you dont have free wheeling hubs you could unbolt the caps that lock your cv's to the wheel and see if the sound goes away. if it does you can put one on and see which side the sound comes back on. you can narrow it down a little bit more lick that.

those dust sheild were off long time ago haha. i took the hubs off today as it was noisy as hell. on the passenger side the cv shaft is very loose inside the diff, driver side is tight. i figure the bearings are bad in it. i am looking for free wheeling / locking hubs to avoid changing the diff now as i need the truck asap to go to work with. i got a spare diff but i was thinking of selling it to drop in on off an automatic as im at the right time to do the swap

well i got the old diff out and the new in, now i cant finish the job as i need the little bearing and seal that turns on the end of the cv shaft. my local part department store tells me its a dealer item. dosent sound right to me. i thought the name of it was axle shaft bearing but it shows the diff side on the computer, i need the one in the steering knuckle. whats the proper name for it? or anybody got the part #?

i took the old diff apart as i wanted to know why it blew up on me without the use of the 4wd. found the c clip on the drain plug magnet.

I don't know where that drawing came from, but looking at my parts catalogue, 15 & 16 are listed as oil seals - there is a little bearing at 14, Suzuki's part number appears to be 09263-28030 with dimensions of 28 x 35 x 16
