NEWBIE...Wanted to say Hello!!!! And I need RIMS.!!!!!!!!!!
« on: November 14, 2007, 06:37:57 PM »

Hello everyone, i just wanted to say hello I have just purchased a 2002 Chevrolet Tracker LT today.  Some one stole my jeep this passed weekend and the insurance co. totaled it out.  So i left the jeep forums and joined everyone here.

I use to have a 1994 geo 1.6L but I sold it. but now i am back I will post pic of my new ride later I don't have the digital with me.

But it just so happens I have a few bucks left over from the insurance money and I want to make my tracker look a little different.  The first thing I want is rims but i can not get a definite answer on what size to run.  I had soft 8's on my jeep, and i Loved them so I want to run soft 8's on my new silver Tracker.

From what I have gathered the stock rim size is 15x6 with 5x5.5 bolt pattern. I can not get an answer on backspacing.  What I want to run is a 15x7 with a 4" backspacing. Does ANYONE know if this will work on the tracker.  My goal is to buy rims that i do not need to run spacers with. I do want my tires to stick out a few inches, but not to far that it looks dumb. I want a basic black steel wheel i do not like the ones from rocky-road.  I also plan to run the old tires off my jeep so They will be 215\75R15 's  So give me some idea's

I run soft 8's on my 2001 tracker.
I needed to run a 1/8" spacer on the fronts to clear the caliper. Where the holes flare inward from being stamped they barely catch the caliper, so a spacer or 2 hours grinding the caliper...I'm lazy bought spacers on ebay!

Does anyone have pics of 15x7's with 4" backspacing, if you post a pic let me know what size spacer you have if your using a spacer and what size tires you are using.

I assume that either no one has digital camera, no one puts rims on there tracker, or nobody likes me.

I purchased two sets of rims this weekend neither of them will clear the caliper. so back to the drawing board. The quest continues for rims.

I have 235/75/15 on stock wheels and tires with no lift and no rubbing. I looked for wheels before and the bolt patterns are the same but its the backspacing that matters. A GV has bigger Calipers than the Tracker.

I have a 99 tracker with black steel rock crawler wheels. 15x7 with 3.75 back space. I also run .25 inch wheel spacers. Without the spacers the wheels wouldn't fit. The calipers would rub.

i wanted the rock crawler wheels but summit racing does not have spacers for 5x5.5 the biggest they had werer 5x5.

I finally found rims that will clear the calipers, but they are 8" rims so i have to see if i can get a tire to fit with no lift.

update, The old rims i bought were 15x8's it was to hard to mount tires on them and keep the 8" wheel so i took them back and bought the ones below. I may have a line on a set of 29x10.5 what would be the minimum amount of lift I would need to clear these, i will be running the rims below it is 15x7 with 3.75" backspacing.

Those tires should fit with a little trimming on the flares

Did you guys have to use longer wheels studs with the 1/4" spacers? Or should I say do you need longer studs using the spacers and aluminum wheels?
