2000 Grand V Front Diff Replacement

Can I take a steel diff from a 2002 and up GV and put it into my 2000? Also can I take a steel one out of a standard vitara and swap the gears?

i put a xl7 2004 front diff on my tracker 2002 and it's easy!!!
