GV aftermarket clutch
« on: March 30, 2007, 11:31:03 PM »
Hi all,

I own a 1600cc (16v) GV 2003 model with Manual Trans, factory 5,12's, and i want to replace the factory clutch with a better one.
I want to put Centerforce Dual Friction.
Anobody who has already putted the specific Clutch system yet?
Are there any differences from Vitara 16v to Grand Vitara 16v in order to fit that Centeroforce to GV?

What have you guys done to your cars ?

Thanks for any help! :)

I have a SPEC clutch sitting here (stage 3+, should be great for offroading), along with a new OEM Suzuki flywheel.  I bought it a few months ago when my clutch failed.  Turned out it was just the hydraulic part of the clutch that went.....so I'm waiting for my clutch to die, so I can have the SPEC installed.  I'm over 130,000 miles, and I'm running 31" tires, so it's just a matter of time before I replace the original clutch.  Centerforce doesn't make a clutch for the V6 Vitara/GV.  I called them.....and it's a typo in their catalog.

Hi Davyboy,

what kind is SPEC (stage 3+) ?  something better than Dual friction ?
in what car are you going to put the SPEC in?
Grand Vitara ?

Can you give me some details about SPEC please.......  i want to have some other options too.
How can i be sure that SPEC will fit to my GV ?
I dont want to change with factory again.

But also, take a look at this :

http://www.dragtimes.com/SUZUKI-VITARA-Centerforce-Clutches-m46-n307.html

Says that its for Vitara/GV with 1600 engine.....  And my GV is a 1600cc and not a V6.
Who knows...  ??? ???

Thanks for helping,

Vasilis.

Yeah....maybe you can get a centerforce for the 1.6 Liter.  But not for the 2.5 Vitara/Grand Vitara.  Here's a link to Spec Clutches:

http://www.specclutch.com

They custom make them in a few days for your application.  If you call them, and tell them what you want from your truck (offroad, dragracing, etc.) they will recommend Stage 1,2,3, etc.  They all have different characteristics.

Good luck.

Hi all,

i haven't much time to buy a Centerforce DF and try to fit it (if not ok, i had to sell it), so i finally got the factory/stock AISIN, which is good enough too.

Thanks for helping,

Vasilis.
