How hot should a manual trans get? After driving for about 40-50 miles I put my hand on the trans and could only keep it there about 5 seconds. The transfer case was a little cooler. I didn't have to remove my hand. I don't know if the heat is coming from friction inside the trans or heat transfer from the engine. The outside air temp was about 60 degrees.
