does anyone have an idea how to replace the stock speakers on a tracker?

i wen out and bought everything else i needed today so i can work on it on my day off, all the wires, clips, speakers, amp, etc.

btw i have 2 pair of polk audio 6.5 inch coaxial speakers

i was getting everything set up and decided to start with the back speakers first becuase the plastic panels would be the easiest to get off.  so off it comes and i pull out the stock speaker.  i run a wire from my amp to the speaker hole, and connect everyhing together. when i go to bolt it on, the holes dont line up? i have no idea why they did this or how to fix it so i get mad and say f*ck it, ill work on the front.

so as im going along, i get the door panel off.  im standing there looking at the speaker, and i dont even bother taking it out becuase it is the same at the back speaker.

so now half the plastic is off of my truck and im missing one speaker, completley confused on how to mount the ones i have because the stock holes are in different locations than the polk speakers i have.

i know i saw a write up on how to replace them on here, but i believe that it was for a 1st gen tracker with the 4 inch speakers.

I'm gussing just drilling new holes in the right positions won't work.

I think both front and rear are 5".
I took one out to take to the store when I replaced my rear speakers.

You could try mounting them to the plastic molding if your speakers come with their own covers.  Just cut the hole to fit your larger speakers.

i can confirm that all the speakers are 6.5s but the stock ones have a larger flange/bracket built onto the speaker so the hole is actually larger, and drilling new holes i would only be able to get 2 bolts screwed in.

and sadly i only have one pair of plastic covers for my speakers so that would only half work 

i was thinking of just cutting hunks of plastic off and replacing it with wood and mounting it there

Try using a light guage piece of sheet metal.  Copy the factory speaker hole diameter and mounting holes onto a sheet of paper.  Trace your new speaker diameter and mounting holes over another piece of paper.   Hold the two pieces of paper up to a light and slide them around to where they best match up then tape the two templates together at that point.  Cut out your final template and then transfer the final template to the sheet metal.   Cut the sheet metal to pattern.  The sheet metal should bridge any existing openings in the factory speaker hole and provide you a surface to secure the new speakers to as well.    This should get you very close to what you need.  Screw the sheet metal template over the factory openings and mount your speakers to them.  You will have to drill through the door metal anyway.  You should be able to mount the factory panels back over them if they are a smaller diameter than the factory speakers and then only person who knows you had to do some fabbing will be you.   

OR... you could consider returning those speakers and exchanging for some Infinity speakers that are closer to the factory speaker size, now that you have seen the difference and have one of the factory speakers out.   This would eliminate most of your frustration and still give you better sound quality.

and i would return them but i bought them off my friend, not at a store

Before you mount the sheet metal, you might want to run a bead of silicone sealer around the contact surface with the body to eliminate any vibration against the body area too.  You might not get any vibrations with a good fit, but you won't have to pull the panels and speakers again to caulk it if you do it during the install.

so i got the 2 back speakers in this weekend, made up some metal brakets(thanks nprecon)

ill put some pictures up as soon as i get home and find a camera, but i only got 2 in because i cant get my amp to turn on >_< (the red protection lights is on)
