Tracker manual hubs conversion done with samurai parts
« on: October 15, 2017, 02:35:54 PM »
Interesting project today.  Saw some used oem hubs from samurai locally and asked what year.  Dude said 86 or something which made me thing won’t work, but I had him count splines anyway and they were 26! Well for 20$ I figured it was worth the risk.  They are in great shape but when I went to install them they wouldn’t slide on all the way, they had about 1/8” air behind them. Well the axle circlip and washer were interfering with the splines for some reason. I guess that’s a difference I hadn’t read about.  I debated chucking them up in the lathe and clearancing the inside out a little,  but decided instead to chuck the old hub spline things up and turn them down to make spacers instead.  Worked great and now we are fully manual.  Anyway just a note for anyone trying to accomplish this.
