mileage down the tubes
« on: March 14, 2008, 04:56:08 AM »
Having an issue with fuel mileage dropping off drasticly.
I've lost about 125 km per tank.

Have changed the o2 sensors.
Checked all the vacuum lines, intake tube etc for leaks.
Changed the t-stat.

I get a real fuelly smell in the exhaust and it's really lazy (kinda bogging)off the start put then pics up half way through first?

Any ideas before I drop large for the dealer to look at it?

Thanks

also pull your sparkplugs and see if they have any discoloring or powder on them.

Thanks B-K.
I thru new plugs in about 5000 k but will yank them for a look.
Is there a way to test the injectors?

Could the fuel pressure regulator be an issue, someone brought that up to me too?

Cheers

Blocked cat?

That was my thought. My neighbor had a cat clog up on him and it caused the exact symptoms you describe.

Did you make sure they were Iridiums?  GVs can be touchy about which plugs works well, and Iridium can stock.
