Airbag indicator light remains "ON"
« on: April 09, 2010, 09:35:58 PM »
My rig, a 2001 Grand Vitara 2.5 liter AT was submerged in rainwater due to floods last October. After complete disassembly, cleaning of the whole dashboard and electrical connections/harness, the airbag indicator light lit up and after using the Tech II diagnostic tool, found out that the defect was on the driver side clock spring and horn pad. This was replaced, now the tech II scanner showed a fault on the passenger side airbag, this was was also replaced together with the airbag module. The airbag indicator remained "ON" and the scanner showed the fault still coming from the passenger side airbag.

My unit came with the front pre-tensioners. I also found out that the Tech II diagnostic tool can only detect airbag fault whether the driver side or passenger side only, it does not read faults coming from the pre-tensioners.

Can anyone help me and give inputs on how to deal with this concern. Incidentally, the airbag fault can be deleted using the Tech II but comes back again after cranking the engine on the 3rd time.
