If you search www.car-part.com it looks like you can get the steel carrier and housing from a MT GV or XL7, which seems a lot better than welding on extra aluminum.

Also on the trackicks the frot diff problems seem to be caused by a week pinion mount allowing too much movement.  I'm not 100% sure it's the same problem but the GV's housing is a direct swap so I assume it mounts the same.  An interesting (and easier looking) brace for the pinion mount can be seen here.

Yep - maplebar is correct. I cut some corners and just went out and bought a manual transmission GV to get the strong drivetrain ;D

I will have a look but I beleive the housing mounts are different than the little kicks ???

From what I have heard the GV's and Trackicks mount up the same way

The XL7 has a slightly different mount though.

I have an automatics so I can swap in the steel diff... someday....and the trackick tcase gears are supposed to work for me  ;D, and they don't for the MT GV's.  There is some wacky manufacturing going on at those suzuki factories ;)

Taken from link above.
"Now to fix the Achilles heel. An XL7 front differential set up is all solid cast iron and to our relief is almost identical to the sidekick aluminum components. We searched through pages and pages of vague drawings at the dealership and resorted back to our friends at Hawk Strictly Suzuki. They knew exactly what we needed and got us a front housing from and XL7 and a front 3rd member from a 99 Suzuki grand Vitara 5 speed. The XL7 front 3rd member is a bit bigger than the Grand Vitara 3rd member the reason we didn’t go with the Xl7 component is because the mounting system to the front cross member is different than our sidekick. The Grand Vitara 3rd member is identical and we could reuse our mounting brackets with out modification."

And in other topics I have seen it stated that all you need to bolt the XL7 3rd member right in is to grab the XL7 crossmember too.  Also the mounting style for the XL7 3rd is supposed to be stronger than what is used on the trackick/GV.
