Need help on lifting bumpers after body lift
« on: July 25, 2009, 08:01:24 PM »
I just installed 1.5 coil spacers from jeff1997 and a 2 inch body lift on my 2001 GV. Anybody have any tips or pics on a easy way to lift the bumpers after the body lift? Also is it safe to unhook the airbag sensor on the bumper?

yeah, you can undo the sensor from the bumper without concern. as far as relocating the bumpers, i used the masterkit1 hardware with success on my 02 vitara. their setup is simply flatbar that extends the existing mounts vertically. you make use of the factory holes in the frame rails and bumpers. the rear bumper has to be cut (modified) with an angle grinder in order to fit. not a big job. they might sell you the bumper relocation hardware alone, separate from the whole lift kit. but it would be fairly straightforward for you to just get 1/4 inch by 1 inch flatbar pieces to work.
