I have a 99' 4 door GV which I want to lift by about 2 inches.

Body lift is not legal in my country (Israel), so I was thinking about installing coils, shocks combo.

The problem is that there are not too many options for lift coils here in Israel, and the good ones are really expensive (about 500$ for a set of four).

So someone offered me to install longer shocks with 1.6" coil spacers mounted on top the stock coils.

The thing is that I have heard so many different opinions about coil spacers and it's hard to tell if it's a good option or not...

Is there someone here with experience with 1.5-2" coil spacers on a GV?

I bought some from Mepco, they were 1.3 inches and I only installed mine in the back. Mine have been good. They gave me the room I needed for the bigger tires. And by just putting them on the back it evened out the front gap a little. I have pics but i dont know how to post them here.

I have fitted 50mm spacers in the front of my Escudo and 40mm in the back. They work really well. You have to correct suspension geometry though - weld a plate to the end of your front suspension arms following the original lines.shape and redrill the holes 18mm out from the original locations ( fill the old holes with weld, this will sort out the camber again. Fab up an adapter plate for the rear to bolt to the rear diff and remount the ball joint - just make sure you line up the pinion angle and all will be OK. The drive shaft needs a spacer too - 50mm from memory. This will give you a nice lift. I did this years ago and with a 65mm body lift managed to fit 33's ( had to modify the floor slightly too though, a cut and tuck did the trick ). Make up some drop plates as well for the front diff - I did mine 50mm using 10mm plate ( a bit fidly but it has to be done ). Gave me 350mm under the front cross member and 400mm under the chassis rails with 33's. Good luck - I can see 31's coming up for you real soon!!!
PS: I did this mod a long time ago ( 5-6 years ) and it has worked really well, so give it a go. Oh yeh - you will need longer rear shocks too, just make sure they aren't too long or your rear springs will fall out under max droop.

I'm doing it step by step, so in the meanwhile I have only installed 35 mm coil spacers in the rear and longer shocks (Koni sport). Didn't require any other modifications apart from a longer brake hose and some releasing  of the parking brake cables holders.

I am very happy with the articulation now.

The front part will get its attention in the next few weeks.
