I used my gps to track mileage for the last 2 tanks, I got 21.6 and 21.8 with flat country road being most of the miles. I've been having a light foot lately, that helps! I have an 01 4 door 4x4 auto on 235's, and my tank will hold 17 gal when empty, I ran it dry just yesterday(sputtering as pulling into the station) 16.89 gal is what it took.

i was getting around 23 mpg in town my GV with 225/75/16 mt's, not quite sure what it gets now (odometer isn't accurate) with my 245/75/16's, but I'm guessing it's at least 22.. it's a 5 speed and it has a drop in K&N with a modified airbox. It is also only running the two cats right off the manifolds and has all custom exhaust after the 'y'.. pretty sure the exhaust and intake stuff is helping me get such good mileage. I've found that i get a little better mileage when I run it a little harder, that engine seems to like to run at it's upper mid rpm's inbetween shifts, guessing it's because that's where the powerband seems to start to hit... I've tried driving a few different ways to get good mileage and when I didn't care and drove it in a way that was more fun for pretty much a whole tank, I did a little better. I also coast down hills when I can and wherever else it works out (not when it's icy out of course).
2000 Grand Vitara.. boondox coil spacer lift w/ pro comp 2 inch lift shocks and ome struts. 225/75 R16 Kumho Mt's, powdercoated wheels, rear brake line relocation and stuff to acomodate. custom exhaust and intake along with some 1 off accesories.

I've had my '98 V6 manual for over 3 years now, and the mileage is very consistent:

Summer 21 to 22 (miles/US gallon)

Winter 19 to 20.

Unless it's a steep hill or heavy load, I normally operate between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm.

Mine runs as low as 17 mpg if it's windy on the interstate trying to go 80 mph. Usually if it's real windy here I'm in 4th gear turning over 4000 rpm's. Usually I get right at 20 mpg going 80 mph to work. I do better 4 wheelin and drivin dirt roads I see 24-25 mpg. I don't run mine easy.

Just took a 400 (x2) mile roadtrip.  Mostly into a strong headwind both ways, maybe 60-degrees from head-on, and averaging 75-80MPH.... 14-16 mpg.  Ouch.  But, gas is CHEAP, so it didn't really sting much, and the truck ran like a top.  Now that I'm back to normal city/highway driving, I'm back to 20.  These SWB trucks are none too slippery.
