Rim Paint Ideas
« on: October 05, 2012, 12:08:49 PM »
So, should be getting my rims back from the shop today. They have just been sand blasted and primed. They are 15X8 American racing rims, they were black with the red and blue pinstripe.   Im going to be putting 30" General Grabbers on them, and still trying to decide what color I want to paint the rims.

Was thinking black with a Blue ring to match the roof and badge... but kind of leaning towards white also.   Any one have pics or ideas? im looking for some out of the box thinking, but do want them to turn out nice.
Thanks in advance!

It's totally a personal choice.  It's alot easier than picking out a shirt and a pair of slacks that your significant other approves of.  Personally, I just rough sanded my stock steelies (a couple had some rust on them) then wiped them down with some Xylol and spray painted them (the entire rim) with three coats of rattle can Rustoleum semi-gloss black. I've been riding on them for over a year now and I haven't had to touch them up EXCEPT where the tire changers scraped paint when I had the Courser C/Ts mounted. Easy peezy!

You can put more detail in them, but bear in mind that at some point in the future you will either scratch the crap out of one or two on a rock or nature will cause them to break out in some rust.  K.I.S.S.  Less effort and good results.

The two top pics are stock 2nd gen rims.  the pic of the rims on the truck are 1st gen stock wheels.

Got everything off the front end yesterday, but it started to rain... so I strapped the grill back on. Going to try and get these rims done SOON, need to mount and align the rubbers for the weekend,   going to see if I can squeeze them in before the BL.   which still had to go in before the snow!

Decided on going with blue on the outside of the rims to match the roof,  and black on the inside (its already black)
Now all I need to do is find a place to paint them..
