I'm having a hard time finding a place that carries strut extensions.
One of the local shops told me I shouldn't need any if I'm only doing a 2" lift.  He claimed that the strut should have enough travel left in it to allow the lift without damaging anything.  However the shop really only deals with toyotas and jeeps.   I was hoping someone could either confirm or deny this who actually knows about the 99+ trackers.
If I put my coil spacers in when I get them,  and I only travel on pavement,  will I be causing any damage?

i had this setup with a 1inch front spacer, didn't break anything but my struts were topping out over bumps sometimes, it's noisy and rough, i'm sure eventually something will break.  if you put a 1.5inch spacer and do nothing with the struts it's gonna be rough and noisy with the hard clunking, something will go wrong eventually.

i would think it's safe to say that you should not listen to your garage's opinion on this stuff unless they have 1st hand experience with your truck.

basically your tracker will ride like crap.  once i put the extenstions in and put reat xl7 coils the ride was much better.  a combination of both parts but the front really needed the extensions.

Thanks.   I figured I must need the extensions since everyone mentioned them, but I was hoping I wouldn't, since that would make things much quicker and easier for me.

I was hoping to install the new coil spacers as soon as they arrive, but it looks like I'm going to have to wait.

It would be nice if there was an offroad shop in the same province as me that doesn't laugh when I mention I'm lifting a tracker.

Does anyone happen to have the dimensions for the strut extension?  the local supplier told me that BDS quit making them a year ago.
I figure if someone knows the specs,  I could get a local shop to make some for me.

YES PLEASE, if anyone knows the dimensions of the inner hole diam. let me know. I'm too lazy to take mine apart to measure it!! If I knew that diam. , I'll for sure start making them out of plastic just like my coil spacers. Almost everyone who buys my spacers wants the strut spacers and I cannot help them. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think you can use the strut brace with that style of spacer. The best one is the one that BDS or Boondox sold as it allowed reuse of the brace.

does anybody have pics of the boondox strut extender Fitted!! or fitting it, i just cant get my head around it with the strut bar

Here's a pic of them from the Boondox site. They just screw on the actual strut and leave the mount and brace untouched.

You might take the time and spend the money to call BDS and ask about the strut extenders.  That's how I got the part number for the set I bought last year.

Again, have you called and asked other dealers than your local guys?  Your "local guys" sound like my "local guys"...if it isn't on the shelf it isn't available...but they might be able to get it if they can find it in their 3 year old catalog...and if it requires any work to find they'll probably never call you back...and at any rate it's more expensive than mail order so you're best off looking further afield.

I managed to find a shop that just opened a month or so ago, and they were more willing to help.   It took a long time to finally get them to understand what I wanted,  but they did manage to locate a pair.  I gave them the company name and part number, and they didn't understand until I sent them a picture.  They kept trying to sell me entire lift kits from calmini, and a few other places.

The end result is that a pair of strut extensions are now being shipped here and it's going to cost me $80 CDN to get them.  Supposedly it's the last set BDS has and it was luckily found at the back of the shelf.

Just for anyone who is interested - the "strut spacers" pictured in the link can be fitted to a GV OR Wide body / Sport model with the strut brace. Both my GV and Wide Body have had them fitted while still retaining the strut braces, so yes I can confirm this conclusively. You have to open up the holes a little though.

Thanks Zeus, I was wondering if there was a difference in the struts on the newer ones. I called BDS today and have a set coming to me also. They still have a some of their leftover stock from the kits they used to sell so if anybody wants anything from them I suggest doing it soon.

i have these extensions on my tracker and so far so good.  they were a b!tch from hell to put on though.  had to burn one of the struts off of it's mount and get a new mount.  then had to heat up one of the extensions to get it on.  no problems since though!

biker - the struts are the same for the gen1 kicks and GV'S - the strut spacers ( read not extentions ) are different shapes however. If you check out the Calmini site you will see the difference in shape I am refering to
