Skid plates
« on: June 28, 2006, 05:10:47 PM »
I'm trying to drum up some interest for skid plates.  In The Suzuki forum, Aftermarket 4x4.com has started selling very solid, good looking skid plates for Gen 1 Tracker/Sidekicks.  RRO's have been "in development" as long as I can remember.  Aftermarket 4x4 is interested in doing them, but they need a demand.  They say 5-10 is good enough to start making them. Their prices are $120-$140 for front or gas tank skid plates for 2 & 4 door models.  Check out their site and send in the e-mails.  Pre-99 trucks have plenty of options.  99+ has stock or homemade, and not everyone's a welder.

Like I said, not everyone's a welder, or can fab for that matter.  If you can built another one |removethispart|@ a reasonable price, I'd buy it.  My "ZR2" doesn't have one.  It's only a matter of time before I break something up front w/out it, and I don't want to pay the $$$ for the stock skid that's as thick as a pie tin.

I'm in.  This is my first post here, but I've been a member of the yahoo groups suzukigrandvitara group for years.  I have looked into getting skids for a while, including VTTR 4x4 in Taiwan.  They have a set for about $235, including shipping to the US, but they're only about 3mm thick aluminum.  I would prefer 5-6mm aluminum or 3mm steel.  Would like coverage for oil pan, tranny, rear diff and maybe one to replace the thin gas tank skid.  So you or they will take me seriously, here are the current mods on my truck:

Dave Turner
1999 Grand Vitara JLX+ 5 speed

Silver Wire Carbon Fiber Dash Kit

1500 Watt Vector MAXX Power Inverter
Thule Roof Rack
Bugflector II
Deep Tinted Windows
1999 Grand Vitara w/CALMINI Suspension and RRO Body Lift, 31" Goodyear MTR tires, Skidplates, 5.12 Diffs with a Lock-Right in the rear.

To contact VTTR you can email at:

vttr.tw|removethispart|@msa.hinet.net

Put it to the attention of Margaret.  I might email them again, to see an entire list of the products they have for the GV.  I'm thinking about the drop brackets for transmission and the rear axle sway bar.  They also have a snorkel and some other goodies.  Check out this link:
