Water leak - passenger side footwell getting wet?!?!
« on: October 30, 2012, 06:16:34 PM »
It's raining like crazy today and when i got into my truck at lunch i noticed the carpet on the floor in front of the passenger seat was a little damp. I assumed i'd left the window cracked but it seemed to be properly shut. Well a few hours later i get in my truck to go home and a little dampness has turned into a small puddle!!!

Does anyone know of any drains that commonly get blocked or plugged?  ???

Yup - the cowl air intake drains into the wheel arches, if they clog, water collects in the intake and can leak through the fresh air system which is behind the glove box.

Thanks!

Do you know exactly where the drain is in the wheel arches? Have you experienced this type of leak yourself? If so, how'd you go about fixing it?

I THINK i found the problem.  8)

I was poking around and found a small hole in the the cowling right by the base of the passenger side wiper, in it i noticed there was a small rock which in combination with some pine needles was the perfect size to plug the hole.

I removed the rock, so here's hoping the problems fixed! There's another rainfall warning today so i'm sure i'll find out soon enough!

Run your garden hose in the cowling vent, if you're not getting water out behind the front wheels, some thing is blocking it - I believe there's a blanking plate under the hood that allows you access.
