Aftermarket Black steel rims
« on: February 08, 2005, 07:55:45 AM »
Does anybody know where I can find black steel rims for my 1999 Suzuki GV?  I want rims that look like the American Racing 767 series.  The stock rims I have are damn ugly and the stock mags are too pretty to go wheeling in.
1999 Suzuki GV 2 inch BDS Springs, 2 inch RRO body lift, Old Man Emu struts, Rancho shocks, 30" BFG A/T tires, Cobra CB with PA speaker.  Planning to get custom strut spacer made and a lockright locker in the rear in the near future.

Oh and welcome to Zukiworld.

I was just reading your sig and noticed that you have the RRO body lift, did you get your OME struts from RRO as well?  I thought the OME struts were longer so you don't need strut spacers?

thank you for the suggestion on the wheels Maple_bar but unfortunately those rims you suggested are 15".  I believe I can only go with 16" because my rotors are too big.  Well that is what a few of the tire stores in my area told me.

I bought the old man emu struts from a local 4x4 store in Canada.  I want to get a custom strut spacer made so I can install my struts lower for better articulation (downward). The Old Man Emu struts only give an inch more articulation then the stock struts.  Unfortunately no other company I am aware of makes a strut with longer travel than the Old Man Emu.

You need to use 16" rims with JJ back spacing. What JJ is I don't know but if the rim dosen't have it will rub the rotors.  You could just pick a set of steel "suzuki" rims.  Watch e-bay I see them on there from time to time.  As a matter of fact their two on there right now  :)

You will find if you go for more down travel then the OME struts you'll be breaking front CV's.  I was running OME plus the Calmini strut spacer and very quickly did 2 CV.  Removed the strut spacer and havn't have a problem yet :)

Wow that is horrible.  Thank you very much for the warning Gear.  It is always good to read about what worked and what didnt work on other peoples GV.

Hey Gear I saw your photos in another subject heading.  I really like what you did with your GV.  Those pics of it in action looks like alot of fun ;D .  BTW where do you mount your spare tire?  Or do you leave it at home?  I carry a bicycle pump in my trunk, luckily I have only had to use it once :P.  Unfortunately the stock spare is only for decoration.

I have it strapped down in the back :)
Plus I keep a puncher repair kit in the car and have onboard air with the airlockers.
