That's a 29" tire and it will rub the fenders with no lift. Get a 2" coil spacer lift .  Otherwise you should be able to find good AT tires in the right size.  Congrats on your new ride.

here's a picture of my 1999 GV 2.5 V6 on BFG all terrains, standard UK truck with no mods, dont have the car with me to check but I'm almost sure I'm running either 225x60x16 or 235x60x16



No rubbing issues to speak of, not had the car off-road doing silly stuff where I might encounter rubbing issues though, but for daily driving its been fine

235/60-16 is one of the OEM options on the GV, it's a 27" tire - the 235/70-16 that he's asking about is 29" - quite a bit larger.

Personally I've not used 29"s, but, with the stock 27"s, there's very little clearance on full lock to the front inner guards, so I would imagine that 29"s will rub.

I have been running 215/70/16's, BFG KO's X 2, 45K miles from first set, no lift, no rubbing.  New, they are almost 29"

If you choose a 6 ply, 3 ply sidewall, 26 psi is not enuf.  I run 34-36 psi.

Before my lift I ran 225/70/16 with no rubbing and lots of options for that size.

225/75R16 fit great and had lots of LT rated truck tire options.  Same height as the 235/70R16 but a bit narrower.

Anything around a 29" tall tire will rub just slightly but only on the frame at max lock and on the back of the front wheel well lining if compressed hard.  Neither does any damage.

I use Goodyear Wrangler Territories which are only available up here in Canada through Canadian tire

They are based off the duratec, but being "e" ply I run them in the icy winters here |removethispart|@ only 22psi...

The sidwalls still don't buldge like other half tons using almost double the PSI... so I think I'm fine

As is typical, I'm replying late.  We have had a 2000 GV for about four years.  Tow it behind our RV to run around, including off-road and fill in for when our minivan is in repairs (it's old, so that's rather often).  Shortly after getting the GV, we replaced the tires w/Yokohama Geolanders.  Had to look around a bit, but found the stock size, and have been VERY happy on-raod and off, wet & dry.  Not noisy, but good off-road grip in dirt & sand.  Got us up & down rocks when needed.  And good stopping/cornering in the rain.  Good enough so when we took the plunge to buy a 2004 GV, we also bought a set of Geolanders for it, also.
