33" Tires
« on: June 06, 2008, 03:47:32 PM »
So I just bought a 2001 Tracker Zr2 2dr conv. and I plan on wheeling with it.  I also have a 1988 toyota 4x4 and Im between the 2 on which one I should keep to go wheeling with?  The guys I wheel with are 2 toyotas with 33's and a jeep comanche with 33's. I know I can put a lift on the toyo and fit 33's easy but what Im wondering is does this tracker have potential?  With a spacer lift, body lift, and some trimming can I fit 33's and run with these guys?

if you could get 33's under there you would love it!  gotta be thin, like 9.5 or 10.5 wide max.  i run skinny 31's and most people i wheel with usually have something on 33's or 35's, only time i'm really at a disadvantage is when it get really rocky, just don't have the clearance for that stuff.

You can get wider under there! Depends on what you do for a lift! We biuld me buddies! Approx 10". He is running 33X12.50's with no problems. And bit of fender trimming and your good!

That is an approx. I am not for sure on amount of lift but i know it is around that mark! No frame drop was done. The front suspension was spaced down. And if I remember correctly a spacer was installed. The rear was done with a spacer and Grand Cherokkee front springs. The springs alone give about six inches. And the rear links were lengthened. I don't know if I have any pics of that one. We built three all at pretty much the same time. His vitara, X90 and my trackick. I know I have pics of the 90 and Trackick but not sure about the Vitara.

Use parts from the Toyota and do a sas on the  Tracker. With a trailslayer kit 33's are easy and 35's are sometimes used.

trail slayer don't fit or work on the 2nd gen model and there is no plan to make it work  :(

if you put a calmini lift, some spacers and a 2inch body lift with some trimming you should be fitting 33's under there..  not trying to promote calmini but with some spacers you can get 4inches of suspension lift...  i'm slowly thinking of going this route as my suspension gets beaten to hell and will soon need replacement parts again..

No you can't, if you actually want to crawl.  I've got Calmini 2.5" and Calmini 3" BL, and with serious plastic foo-foo cutting, I fit 31"s.

Of course, if your idea of wheeling is curb climbing at the mall, 33"s will fit with that set up.

You'll need to do a SAS o fit 33"s or bigger.

i was thinking that more than plastic would have to be cut to fit the 33's, potentially some heavy duty hammering back of the inner front wheel well and some metal trimming on the front of the rear wheel well.  if not 33's 32 x9.5 swampers are certainly do-able, if i had a buyer for my 31's i'd pick up some 32's right away as i figure i've got room to work with...  this would of course be on stock wheels to fit under the body even further reducing my turning radius....

another thing is the tracker has less plastic pretty crap to get in the way, if you plan on cutting pull off the zr2 flares and cut back the sheet metal as far as you can towards the back of the front wheel well.  i think this will be the most challenging area.  the rear has lots of room with the sheet metal trimming to fit 33's.
