2006 suzuki grand vitara luxury 2.7l-fuel pump issue
« on: October 16, 2022, 01:08:37 PM »
I have a 2006 grand vitara with 263,000 miles purchased brand new in 2006. Last year my wife over heated the engine so I replaced it with a 2008 2.7l with 42,000 miles. Ran like a champ for about a year. I noticed an oil leak in my driveway and determined it to be valve cover gaskets. A lot of parts to remove just to install new valve cover gaskets but job is done. Now I have a new issue..........fuel pump! I can't hear the pump when I turn the key and no gas gauge. Just assumed with 263,000 miles it out lived it's service life and I installed a new one..........again, a lot of stuff to remove just to drop the gas tank but job completed. Went to start the car.........nothing? Anyone dealt with this issue before and if so, what was your fix?? I find a lot of post online regarding the same exact problem however, no one has posted the solution. Thanks for any help if someone knows the fix! By the way, I checked all fuses and replaced the fuel pump relay as well........NOTHING!

Losing both the fuel pump and the gas gauge, if it happens simultaneously, suggests damaged wiring to the tank - in my case it was directly above the tank, and immediately obvious when the tank was lowered.

I repaired the damaged wiring and added split loom as another layer of protection (I know they can still eat through it,)
