2006 Grand Vitara, "luxury" model with all the extras, 2.7V6, auto trans.
One day last week, we got about 26" of snow during the work day. My wife drove the car home from work through all that mess, giving the ESP/ABS a good workout. The next day, she noticed that the "ESP" light is now always on whenever the ignition is on. Driving the car a bit on an icy road also seems to indicate that the ESP system is now non-functional, although the ABS brakes still work as always.
Anybody else experience this?
So far: Pressed the "ESP Off" button a few times to see what would happen. Nothing, that's what happens. Took the car through a good undercarriage wash to see if there might be some road gunk that was fouling one of the wheel sensors. No change.
Any ideas?
We just got the safety recall notice in the mail about the tranny slipping out of park, so I guess we'll be taking it to the dealer for that fix. Maybe they'll do something with the ESP while they've got it.
