Name That Truck!
« on: June 20, 2006, 08:11:51 AM »
Suppose we were in the board room where they were deciding on a name for this new small pickup. What would we want to name it? And, why?

I've got a couple ideas.....

What is tougher than a Hardbody and rules the Frontiers? A RHINO of course  8) They need to take a naming lesson form our friends across the Pond and give them a Rhino to ride  ;)

Yeah, that's a good one. I was thinking as a way of giving props to the ol' school and also a good name all by itself... BRUTE The old LJ's had that name and it would be a good pickup name. A 4-door version could be BRUTE XL or something... Another thing that would be cool is for the grill to have SUZUKI spelled on it instead of the new hugemongous 'S' that is now out there. Verticle grill slats like the SJ's would be cool too.

SUZUKI BRUTE

Given the recent naming pattern (SX4, XL7) I'd expect something like:

PT3 (Pickup Truck that seats 3)
ST4 (Sport Truck with 4 doors)

That is, after they rename the Grand Vitara the GV5.

I think the best name would be somthing from the past like the Brute or Sierra, LT (Light truck), LT 2x4, 4x4 or XT w/ ac, power doors, windows and such.  But something new would be good too, Like a Rhino ( Not to copy yamaha, Even though we had the name first)   I also think Suzuki should make a 1/2 - 3/4 - 1 ton gas and diesel truck to take on the the 3 big ones.  Not 1 foriegn manufacturer makes a full size Diesel. I am buying a new 3/4 duramax or cummings, but cant decide.   If it was a Suzuki, it would already be in the driveway.

It would be cool if they followed the "Samurai" theme, such as "The new Suzuki Bushido" or "The new Suzuki Ronin" (a Ronin is a masterless Samurai).  Other's could be, Katana, Tanto, ect.

I like Samurai (as in the warrior, not the vehicle) history, if you couldn't tell  ;) ;D

Brute and Rhino are great names to though!  I'd go with Brute myself, just because of the Yamaha Rhino.

If they don't choose this, maybe they might go with something a little more sophisticated like
S100

Can't do that either.
Toyota already got sued by Ford for using T100.
