Odd front end noise/ Help
« on: March 18, 2005, 04:39:32 AM »
Well I've been have this odd popping noise come from the front end when turning in my XL-7.  I thought that may be the CV's where starting to go but today I noiticed that it make the noise when turn the wheels and the zuki was sitting still.  It only pops once turning the way one then again on the way back. Ball joints may be?  Anyone have any thoughts on this???

Do you have spring spacers?
If so, It could be the springs popping.
Have you checked to make sure the steering box is tight?
Idler arm loose or bad?
Those are my guesses.

No spiring spacers but I do have 2.5" Calmini lift.  The noise sound like it coming from the drivers side so I will check the all the steering stuff in that area frist. I will let you now what I find.

We test drove a used GV that did the same thing. We tried for 2 days to find the problem. It sounded like it was coming from the strut bushing to me but we still didn't buy it.

update on the noise
it coming from the steering rack on the drivers side.  Guess I will watch it for now.  Hoping that I don't have to replace it.
