Should I buy this sammi?
« on: September 16, 2005, 04:12:33 PM »
Hokay guys, here is the deal:

The Goods

1992 Suzuki Samurai
75k ORIGINAL kilometers
Clutch rebuilt in 04
Manual Hubs
4x4 works great
Convertible Hard Top
Custom  Bumper
6" Breeze SPOA lift
31" tires (can't remember make) on good ol' wagon wheels.
Zuki Yellow

The Bad

RUST!
Fender wells have rusted through, small holes in the floor, widshield is toast
What are some suggestions to combat this problem? Bedliner is on the to do list. Please point me in the general direction on this forum for body repair. This vehicle will not pass safety and needs these parts fixed.

STEERING
The steering is F'd in this little rig. It has the Breeze SPOA lift but a homemade Draglink steering arm, the wheel has about 6-7 inches of free play. How can I fix this? This will also need to be fixed to pass safety

MISC.
Rear wheel bearing needs to be replaced, I figure I might as well do all of them to be on the same page. Tow bar... how much can a sammi pull? Where is a good place to start looking for an original style soft top?

How much do you think the soft top will run me?
How much will it cost to have the bearings replaced?
For a draglink I know it will cost me $75 from breeze, should I just by cross-over just to be safe?

Dents: What is a reliable method to remove small dents? about golf ball size?

Leaf Springs! The leafs have a negative arch to them (they go like this ^ lol), can I get them rebent or should I buy new leafs? These are the stock leafs running with the SPOA.

Cost of Vehicle: $2500 Canadian

How much would you pay for a machine of this discription? It is in pretty bad shape, I am sorry I do not have any pictures. But she is a rusty piece right now.

Of course you should buy it !

People like us need to save these trucks from extinction  ;D

But serious now -  Nothing on your list is not repairable just watch the rust and make sure theres not tons of it lurking  to pop out when you get it home.

$2500 Canadian ??? is that what others are going for around your way comparing prices with others you've seen around.

There aren't many, I have seen 2 in London Ontario. I will be offering the seller $900-$1100 because he and I both know that he will not get $2500. I am making him take it to a pre-safety and I know it isn't going to pass with the condition that the floor is in. There is easily $500 worth of body repairs. JB Weld, Bondo, Sheet metal, welding, sanding, primer, paint, bedliner

If you read over my previous thread, it is going to cost me $470 a month to insure it (just liability), I had a small accident. So I won't be insuring it until next summer. So that gives me a year to work on this bad boy to make her road worthy IF I buy it.

yeah, that's Canada for you, this is how the government steals money (legally to them) from the teenage population of drivers. Well, I can't complain too much either, I owe the government about $700 in taxes I avoided to pay importing parts from the States. That's almost good for two months worth of insurance  ;)
