ARB woes....
« on: March 08, 2005, 05:40:54 PM »
Well Calmini came through the other week with my Anvil and 5.83 R&Ps that I've been waiting  for so after a long discussion with myself  ;) I decided to cough up for the front ARB to finish it off.

So I go down and order it and was told it's will have to come over from Aussie and will be  about 4 days, no problem I say and go home grinning from ear to ear  ;D

That is until I get the phone call to say theres only one RD88 locker in Aussie and ARB will have to retrieve it from the little 4x4 store out in the Boondocks then send it over so expect it to take a little longer. Oh well I think at least they are doing there best to get it here :-/.

Well Monday I get a call "there's a box on our counter with your name on it"  ;D ;D

Unfortunately I was working on a mates Sammy (took the day off work to do it ;D) which is competing in the Superwinch tuff truck challenge over here and can't get down to pick it up until 4 PM. Now it's one of my favorite type boxes kinda like those ones with Calmini all over them  8)

So Tuesday we start to assemble the front diff, pinion shaft in,depth set... press bearings onto the ARB...... bolt the ring gear on ..... set the backlash.... plug work shop air into the locker to check it's all working. We placed the axles in and turned them to check it locking correctly and they are hard to turn and run kinda lumpy !!!!!!  WTF ??? ???

So it's back to the shop with it where they agree some things not right and ring ARB, several calls exchanged latter and it's decided that ARB will just replace the whole thing but they have to build me another one next week and ship it out again  :'( :'(

Man I was SO looking forward to wheeling it this week end as well !!!

I was going to ask if you had the 5.83's Mark.

Don't worry I'll be sure to post pixs and a report of how it performs once she's going.

When I got my front ARB, I also assemled the whole thing.  Everything look great.  Untill I tried to install the axils.  It came with 22 side gears and I needed 26.

No problem, just SEND IT BACK!!! and they put the right ones in and I got it back a little latter.

Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining about their service they never even asked me to send the faulty one back they basically offered  straight away to replace they whole unit rather than send out parts and take a chance that a set of side gears or the likes would fix it.

I'm more than happy with ARBs offer to replace it, just slightly pi$$ed that I'm waiting again.

Since October last year I have spent around NZ$6000 on parts/mods and managed to get probably 15 hrs wheeling out of it in between wait for sh!t to arrive so I'm just a little disappointed with not be able to  wheel it this week end  :(

I have a question,,,,,, ARB switch ,,

I have wired my switch so that the you press it up to lock the locker and down to unlock,,,  when i lock the locker the light with the pci of a diff comes on,

The little light comes on when you switch the lights on , is that the way you guy have it

If you look at the pic its in the off position there,

Yeah mines the same downs off, up's on. Lights up when headlights are on etc..

If you buy the ARB compressor it comes complete with wiring loom to run compressor and front/rear lockers.

I'm guessing you haven't got an ARB compressor then ? \

What ya red switches for ? spoties ??

I can go with out alot of things but  NO STEREO WTF ???
