calmini rear springs
« on: August 25, 2005, 09:42:51 PM »
hey I purchase a calmini 3' lift kit for my sidekick
and the passanger rear spring is collapsed and is about 3 to 4 inches shorter than the other one. I talked to calmini and sent them pics but they said no warrenty
can you guys suggest a possible set of springs from a different vechicle . no problem if I have to change the saddles for the springs.

You got to be kidding me, no
warantee on a collapsed spring

 ???

That's just wrong, I'm sorry

Here's what you can do to get
it fixed cheep, this is how I built
my lift, the one I built before Calmini
offered a lift for the Track/Kicks

Get the stock springs, I would suggest
using both of them, and make or have
made a 3" spacer that slips inside of the
springs, only needs to slip in about 2" and
the other part sticks out of the spring 3"
This gives you a 3" lift and almost a stock ride

If you want a little more spring, get a rear set
from a 4 door, as they have a little more rate

Hope this helps

XJ front springs or TJ front/rear springs might fit the bill.

Spidertrax also sells springs in various rates, so you can get exactly the springrate that you want.

You know, we're not supposed to do any "vendor bashing", but geez, this kind of thing really just makes you wonder what has happened to the idea of treating each other as we would like to be treated.

I am kinda' shocked that Calmini wouldn't replace the spring. That doesn't sound consistent with the 'terms of sale' on their web page: "CALMINI Products, Inc. guarantees that all of its parts are of the finest quality and free from manufacturing defects.  "

Of course it also depends on how it collapsed... What were you doing when it went?

As for rear springs, you might want to check Ford Ranger/Exlplorer/Bronco 2 front coils. They might be real close...
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...

Legionnair

I spoke with Spencer about your situation and explained to him that we have received no email with pictures regarding this sagging spring issue.  He had also mentioned that you did not know who you spoke with here or when the call was initially made.  He spoke on your behalf and I explained that all you had to do was call and and email the pictures and we would certainly take care of you.  This was approximately 3-4 days ago and I have received no calls or emails regarding this issue. Please call the sales office to help clear up any issue that there might be.  We are trying to make sure that this story is presented in a clear manner.  Awaiting your call

Legionaire

I would recommend following up with Calmini, sounds like you guys might have just had a communications problem.
As far as vendor bashing.......I didn't see any on this thread.

Whoa

Keep things in context....I've seen no untoward comments, no reason to bite ones tongue.
- Legionair has a spring problem, asked for alternate solutions
- Few guys expressed disappointment that part wasn't warrantied
- One pointed out depending on what he was doing, might be the problem
- Vendor comes on and asks why information has not been recieved
- legionair and vendor are dealing with it

No bashing I have seen, little bit of tongue biting, a little disappointment, but no problems.

Let the customer and the vendor take it from here, legionair can alwayys advise if a satisfactory solution does or doesn't happen. Vendor can give his response.

But so far no excitement...just the way I like it.

At least Calmini has posted a decent reply for a solution to his problem. All they need is an email with a pic and it will be replaced. That seems more than fair to me.

... I talked to calmini and sent them pics but they said no warrenty ...
probably just a case of a mail being lost ... good luck and it sounds like it was a case of a bad spring so hopefully you'll get the warranty replacement.

Spring rate would be way off... I think whitfield is using these in the front of his rig... and I remember seeing that they're around 400lb/in or however they're measured, compared to the 150lb/in that a stock rear coil is.
