Just extend the shifter for the transfer case, I did not need to bend mine to make it fit.

hey, I don't want to sound preachy or anything, but you'll find that even though you think you don't know much fixing cars, it ain't as complicated as the computers you work on.  maybe just a little greasier :D  two things will happen when you start working on your own rig.  one, you'll have more money to spend on cool stuff to put on it, and you don't have to work with some nut case who claims to know what he's doing.  these kits come with detailed instructions, and I'll bet you could follow them as easily as the next guy.  It has been fun reading about your exploits with your "mechanic" ;D  but I bet we'd all rather have you tell us about how you handled the project on your own.  I'll get down off my soap box now and wish you all the beast ( I mean best)  with your new set up.  What color are you going with?

Ok a little late hehe but i just checked it out the guy did put the extension on the 4x4 shifter ... the reason why wasnt going back enough was ... it was getting blocked by a piece of metal  that is made to hold the back of the console or somtin like that .. i removed it and VOILAAAAAAAAA :D my Uber Asuna is allllllllll good ...
EXCEPT MY MUFLER TUBE ( that last part that is long and stick the smoke out ) BROKE   :'(  im getting that fixed tomorow hehe :)
THANK YOU EVERYONE THAT HELPED

I'm getting my shifters extended by 2" tomorrow - will this avoid the need to mod. the console? I've already extended the holes in the transmission tunnel, to no avail.

When you have the extension welded on, you need to move the transfer case shifter back to 4x4. If it hits or almost hits the body you should have the rubber mounted part of the shifter(the black part) heated and bent foward so it clears the body and the console

Thats what I did with mine. I heated the shifter with a torch and bent it .  It took a couple tries to get it where I wanted it. I also made a slit in the rubber under the shifter boot so when I put things back together, The rubber flap did not hinder the movement of the shifter.

Drive your Tracker to the shop and bend the shifter there so you can do it rite one time!

good luck Rich
