SJ410 transfer gear install into samurai
« on: May 08, 2005, 09:29:16 PM »
Have anyone install the gear from a SJ410 transfer into a Samurai transfer case? I know this will give me some reduction in both high and low. Can this be done?

Why not just install the whole 410 t-case? People have been doing that for years and years ;)

If it can be done, then some machining with the gear to mix and match with Samurai and I can get 4:1 ratio for low gear.

There is an srticle somehwere on the web about this. It does require maching and welding. I do know at least one of the guys on Difflock has done this. Try a search on the forum for 'lobster'. You have to have an early (pre 85 I think) transfer case.
