One reason to use Bosch Plugs, they come
pre-gapped, and have protectors on the end,
this way you can see if they have been dropped
and closed the gaps, other plugs gap very widely
at times, whenever I have checked Bosch, they
are right on. This doesn't mean the plugs should
not be regapped or checked, just a Quality Thing
I like about these plugs.

Yeah it must be the O2 sensor that needs to be checked, the manual says to do it every 80k and the light tripped at 160k.  Is there a way to check whether or not the sensor is good, i.e. with a voltage or ohm meter?

Volt meter, O2 sensor puts out +1 and -1 volts,
if it bounces up and down on the meter it's still
working, (sensor has to be hot to work)

you could pull a code from the computer? and carry a spare coil if the plugs were that bad or just change it and check you wires also! larger gap=higher voltage.

That's what Wrigley's spearmint is for.  Simply unwrap a stick and steadily chew for 3.5 minutes, remove from mouth and press against the plastic cover of your instument panel, spreading outward from the center until the light magically disappears.

FYI:    Do not attempt to substitute BigRed or Bubble-isious for the Wrigley's.  They have a far too high sugar content, negatively effecting their adhesive properties, causing them to slide down your instrument panel leaving a nasty snail trail of sticky.
Remember that refreshing burst of minty flavor from those rock hard chunks of 10 year old gum you picked off the bottom of the church pew?  Ahhh, Wrigley's goodness right kids?

I am beginning to think this "switch behind the speaker" thing is a big lie. I have a 94 and a 90 Sidekicks and have looked for this switch on kicks of almost every year and have yet to find this magic switch. If this is indeed a bunch of crap, somebody please tell me.

Its not always behind the speaker, you might have to hunt for it.

Thanks Rhinoman! That is just what I needed to do. It turns out that mine is right under a small removable panel under the steering panel. I found it after reading a thread from a couple years ago. I was beginning to think I might find a Yeti or Bigfoot before I found that damn switch.
