I need an opinion
« on: December 13, 2003, 01:48:24 PM »
I have a 1992 sidekick 16vavle all stock, nice truck once i work all the bugs out, i am relativly new to offroading so i need your opinions. should i keep the zoox and try to wheel it or should i trade it off for a full sized dodge?
Money is tight so upgrades are not happening to either rig anytime soon. So far the only offrading i do is maybe some mud and old logging raods but i want to get more radical as i get more exp.
Thanks and please be brutally honest.

"Off topic"

Are you sure your 92 is a 16 valve? Cuz I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the 16 valves were first offered in 94.

"On Topic"

I would stick with the zook bud.

- They are cheap on gas
- Easy to repair
- Dependable as hell

You will be suprised where you can take one of these things, even stock.  Just throw some more agressive tires on, and she should be able to pull you through a good amount of sticky...err muddy situations. ;D

16 valve motors were first introduced in 1991 or 1992...or, at least in Canada they were.

Definitely stick with the Zuk, the Dodge will cost you $50 to fill up, the Zuk, well, mine costs around $20 for PREMIUM!!!!  Besides, the smaller size will get you places that a full size never will......However, if you're going to be planning to tow a 5th wheel house trailer, well ;D.  You know....  I'm extremely happy with my 2000. In fact, I'm kinda sick you can't get them with a four anymore.  Oh well, these are good for at least 200,000 miles, that should last me a while ::)

Mileage is why i bought my Zuk (22mpg with 32 swampers), I used to have a 3/4 ton Dodge that I am now selling because I couldnt afford to drive while at school. I agree with the more aggressive tires and maybe a K&N filter to get a smige more power and mileage. Exaust system also help in both, but was a little spendier. It more come down to what you feel is more a nessicity.

I recommend keeping the Zuk. It will by far outlast any Dodge p/u hands down. With the recent growth of TrakKick aftermarket parts/kits growing exponentially, it is a good time to own one. Don't miss out.

Stick with the zuk. You'll not only appreciate fuel milage but also when your heading down a trail with some buddys and suddenly the full sizer can't fit or get through an obstacle, you'll be glad you picked the light weight smaller 4x4.

keep the zook,   you can beat on them forever and only break front axles.  i know just did my frist this summer.  and i'm running 34in swampers.  what i like about my zook is that it only to change the hole front end. lata stu

1992 4dr were the first year for the 16vavle however in 92 it was only in the 4dr. i think the reason i am thinking about it is there is a mudd hole real close to my house i have been playing in in a full sized ford, and i think the mud hole is too deep for the zook since the mud almost stalled the ford and i really enjoyed that mud hole, if i took the zook thru that stuff i will bet it would suck mud and water into the engine. I know a snorkel is an option but i do not like the way thay look.

Take a look at this.

You will be surprised where you can take one of these things.

In the end though it's your decision bud. Just dont underestimate the versatility of the Zook
