2025 Adventures - a discussion...
« on: March 30, 2025, 08:42:57 AM »
Hello All - thinking about a couple of different adventures for this summer and would like to gauge interest and get some input on these ideas before posting a plan. Ideas below in no particular order of preference. In planning, we also want to give room to those events already planned so the Suzuki community has even more chances to go have fun with fellow enthusiasts vs. making choices of one activity over another. So, please speak up if you know of an event that would be during the same time(s) we're planning below.

Memorial Day Weekend - "Operation: Day Trip" this would be executing on an idea we had while we were freezing cold and backtracking during the Fall Classic and that would be to head straight towards Dayville, Oregon and adventure south from there to see if the road/trail we were on would have actually gone through. So, this would be a two day, two night adventure in the Ochocco forest area, Probably John Day fossil beds as well for some bone diggin'. Easier trails/roads, woods and desert driving w/friends. (this could be some other time this summer as well.)

Independence Day Week - A week long adventure using the work done by the ridebdr.org folks. We'd do this: 1) Use the RIDEBDR Utah Backcountry Discovery Route going from South to North – starting late June and the week leading up to Independence day. https://ridebdr.com/utbdr/ 2) Independence day at small quaint town in Idaho, Soda Springs (excellent fireworks / great area for camping & exploring) July 4th. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soda_Springs,_Idaho
3) Go to the Monster Jam world finals in SLC, UT. On July 5th. (Saturday) https://www.monsterjam.com/en-us/world-finals/

Labor Day Weekend (or earlier) - Rim Butte OHV / Rock crawling area, spend a day (or two) exploring the medium to difficult trails in this system located in Central Oregon between Bend and La Pine.

Also thinking of 'routine' Saturday trips in Oregon/Washington area once a month-ish. Any ideas on where on those? (stuff like Brown's Camp/TSF, The trails in S. Oregon, Naches, Shoestring, Elbe. etc...) ?

Thoughts? Interest?

-Eric

I love the idea of more get togethers. There is already a group of about 6 of us that get together once a month and go wheeling someplace. We are all wanting to do the Rim Butte area so if you want to lead a group around there, I am sure there will be interest. I think we already have a wheeling trip planned for the Memorial Day weekend but I will have to get back to you on that. Personally, it looks like the 4th of July trip won't work for me as Sebrina cannot get the whole time off so we have chosen to attend the BC Suzuki club camp out in Canada and then I will be going to Zukicon on the Rubicon over the 4th of July. I already post about our planned trips on my socials, but I will try to do better and putting them in this forum or this groups FB page.
