What is this sensor? And vac tube?
« on: September 16, 2019, 02:53:08 PM »
So I am nearly complete with the 8v TBI swap.  Cant figure out what this sensor is.  Also, I see most charcoal canisters have (2) lines.  Mine has 3.  Where should the larger vac tube go?

Do you really expect someone to be sitting waiting to respond to you?  Someone with the knowledge & experience to be able to identify a part from a picture when you can't be bothered to tell us what year or model vehicle the picture is from?

I can tell you what I think it is - but - since the 8v TBI variants were never sold where I am, I'd only be guessing...

It looks like your using the Samurai evap canister instead of the Tracker one.  For the 1.6L Sidekick/Tracker motor you should only have a two tube setup, one that runs to your gas tank and one that runs into the intake on the motor after going through the evap relay.  On the Samurai you had a 3-tube plus a bottom vent.  Compare the Samurai Carb vs EFI setup over at Autozone, as the EFI setup is similar to a Tracker/Sidekick 8v:

Your sensor appears to be the California EGR Temperature Probe.  It might not be included on your wiring harness depending on how it was done.

You can see the break down for your EGR/Vacuum system over at fixkick.com:

We can be a little slow sometimes, but we try to get an answer out.

Thanks Drone637. So the next question is.... do I need to buy a sidekick/ tracker canister or can I use my 1.3 Samurai canister and cap off the other line.  In comparing the schematics for the 1.3 and 1.6 canisters it look like I could cap off the furthest outside line for the old carb.  Anyone have experience with this?

FYI - I also dont need to run any emission tests if it matters

I don't see any reason it wouldn't work.  Looking at the images you probably want to plug off that large tube.
