So I have a 96 geo tracker and I'm broke going to school. Fab work is no issue and I have an abundance of materials. I'm a millwright by trade. I was donated a set of samurai housings and I'm thinking of throwing them on leafs and running it. Good idea? Bad idea? Anyone done this? Like I said I have no money for the project really. Right now i have a 2"coil spacer and 2" body lift on 31" tires.

SAS mod costs money...and money is something you don't have as you said. What I would do is save to do the SAS half the cost is the axles

The housing is complete with gears and axles. The only thing is converting my coils in the back to leafs as well. Hopefully I can find some springs for a good price and I should be all set! Only thing I'm unsure of is the steering modifications

Why would you change the rear axle for something weaker and narrower with cart springs?
