ok looking at getting a couple of manuals as im looking at more mods for my tracker. so I was looking on flea bay and the FSM for my 2002 tracker (paper copy) $530 but looking at a CD for a 2002 vitara is only $22. Is the paper copy better and is there a difference between the vitara and the tracker I thought that its just a badge thing, I thought that everything else would be the same wiring colors and stuff ?

The Vitara FSMs can be downloaded at no cost from Max stash over at the Suzuki forums (check the FAQ in the Grand Vitara section of the forum at www.suzuki-forums.com), Eric may also have them somewhere here.

That out of the way, I'm not too familiar with the Tracker FSMs (I'm a long time, multiple vehicle, Suzuki owner), but from what I have seen, there are significant differences in how the manuals are laid out, with the Tracker manuals being more geared to a step-by-step, follow this flow chart approach, especially regarding electrical troubleshooting - I think of it as "idiot proofing" or trying to remove the mystery of electricity - personally I prefer the Suzuki approach, which may be a matter of familiarity with the material, or a greater comfort level with things electrical.

Last but not least - I believe there are differences in wiring colors and in some cases possibly the actual circuitry - how-to's on things like removing DRLs have indicated some differences in between how Chevy does things and the Suzuki diagrams at my disposal.

I purchased one of the CD's for my 05 XL7 motor swap, the wiring was incorrect and incomplete.  The layout for the CD was hard to follow, and I had to go back front menu to change areas I was searching.

X2 or 3 on the digital versions.  I bought the 3-book paper factory service manuals for Trackers back about 6 or 7 years ago.  Besides the fact that my grand dog chewed up my engine manual THREE days after I received it and I had to tape it back together (seriously!) IF I had it to do over again, I'd go the electronic route.  You can access info quicker, blow up pics (for what most of them are worth, which isn't much) and even print specific pages (like torque values) for even quicker reference.  Hands down decision: digital.
