AC compressor clutch have bearing?
« on: October 02, 2015, 12:05:57 PM »
Does anyone know what bearing is in the AC clutch?  I would like to order it and have it ready before I tear it apart.

Autocorrect got me on the subject line.

I made it early this morning and pulled the AC clutch.

The clutch comes out easily, with a little patience.  Remove the allen head cap screw that secures the clutch.  You can use a three large flat head screwdrivers to pry the clutch off evenly.  I used a small pry bar to work the pulley off the shaft.   You have to pry while rotating the pulley slightly as you go.  Be careful not to lose the spacers behind clutch.

I used a Dremel to remove the staking behind the bearing.  The diameter of a cutoff wheel works well for this.  I was lucky to have a specialty socket that fit the ID of the pulley perfectly.  I used a large vise to break it loose past the staking.  I then supported it by 2x4s,so the bearing was clear to pop out.

The bearing number is 32BD4718DUK.  The Santech number is MT2233.  The bearing houses are closed on Saturday, so IAD to order it through Autozone.  I was not able to find a complete compressor kit.
