this is a redo since we lost forum sections. when I first attempted the install I found out the lockers diameter was a bit to large so I had to do the following

ORW machined ID of ring gear to 4.63" and chamfered .015" off locker corner edge of ring gear so ARB would fit tight and bolt up. so if you are an automatic 2.0 99-05 with 4.88 gears this will work for rear only . Thanks captwoody.  That's some of the fine point info that would have been lost and some one would have to reinvent the wheel (again) one day.  Cool beans.

Captwoody. Who modified your ring for this? I'm new to the zuki stuff but would love to put an arb in my zr2 tracker.

So if I wanted to go with 31s I'd have go go with 5.12 gearing? I was thinking about adding a 1inch body lift to my 2 inch coil spacers and 1.5 wheel spacers and going with a 225/85/16 to get 31s.

Suppose you start by telling us what you have now - there were three different engines used in the gen 2 and three or four different gear sets - 5.12s might not be appropriate for your particular build, or, they might just as easily be when you have now.

I fully feel with some wheel spacers and 16inch rims 31s would fit fine with just the coil lift its got plenty of clearance and doesn't rub except at full lock now.

I have a 2.0 2dr 4x4 and with the 4.88's  it pulled 31's but was a little bogged down. still would do 85 on freeway just took a bit to get there

Chock the front wheels to prevent the truck from moving and jack one rear wheel of the ground - mark the drive shaft and the tire that's off the ground and then count the number of times the drive shaft rotates for two full revolutions of the wheel.

If I'm not mistaken, it should be 4.875 if it's an automatic transmission, 4.3 if it's a manual.

5.125 gears will definitely help.

Fordem is correct, it came with 4.88 gears.  Whether it would clear 31" pizza cutter tires with the 2" coil spacer lift with the plastic cladding the ZR2 came with... one way to find out.... try one on for size.  I like the pizza cutter tires.

At least you have the V6 engine which generates about 19 more horsepower than the 2 liter engine and the auto tranny.  So some of the gearing loss could be handled with the V6 engine.  The narrower tire would be easier to pull than a full 31X10.5 tires.  The larger tires may cause your tranny to search for the over drive speed though.

I guess I will have to find some 16 rims and try em on for size . The 30x9.5 clear easy and it runs just as good as stock. My gas mileage didn't even get affected but maybe 5-10 miles a tank, which could be my driving. Other wise power is more than fine. I may not worry with 31s we will see in the future. i also cut the mud flap part of the plastic. Flares are still there just not the flap. I'm working on a bumper right now since I can't really find one I like the calmini almost seems to bulky.

The only 16" rims I found were the steelies or alloy Grand Vitara rims.  You can find 16" in a lot of aftermarket rims, but I was looking for the rims with 4 1/4" back spacing.  Additionally, not all aftermarket rims clear the calipers on these trucks.
