I did the TC on mine to get hwy manners back.  It goes pretty well now with 32s on it..  I think its easier to do too, unless you plan on installing lockers anyway.  I didn't want to tear teh difs apart unless I really had to.

looked at lowrange off road, and 4.1.1 is recomended for 30" tires and 4.9.1 is recomended for 31 to 32". i hate to do the 4.1 in the TC then put bigger tires later.  think the 4.9 in the TC would be ok for 30",give me a little room to grow

You are kind of in a hard spot working between what you have now and what you think you will end up with.  I knew I wanted to run 32s and not really go any larger.  That is why I went right for the 6.5 case.

I hate to do this, but I will give you advice based on what I would do.  I would go straight to the 6.5 gears now.  You will have lots more power right now, but it will be more correct when/if you upgrade down the road.

My speedo is still off by a wide margin with teh 6.5 gears.  I'm trying to figure out where the discrepancy is.

I have the 4.91 tcase gears from low range. with 31" tires my speedo is/was dead on. I run 4000 rpm at 60mph in 5th. Install was easy with just a hammer and a vice. I do have prior experience doing things this way however. Make sure they send you the instructions.
