What to buy
« on: September 27, 2012, 10:40:54 AM »
I have owned a 95 sidekick before and am in the market for another toy/daily drive. My question is how good are the grand vataras and trackers compared to the side kicks?? What's the bigest tire I can put on a vatara and is there any good plane for a home made lift for them. I work in a steel fab shop so the fad is not the problem.. Help me out guys thanks a lot!!

Well I like the 1999 and older stuff, I drive new cars for a living and the newer stuff has never impressed me to much on the miles per gallon with the extra weight they had to add to stay in the states and where the newer parts are coming from!

I prefer the 92-98s that have the 1.6 16V engines.  They will get upper 20s and sometimes lower 30s for MPG.  From what I have seen/heard, the 99+ will not get anywhere near that.

Do all you guys that are getting in the high twenties have stick vehicles?  My 93 auto 1.6 8v and 01 and 02 2.0 16v autos all got 23 mpg.

My '96 stick got 23MPG when some "helpful" oil change kid set the tire pressures according to "factory spec" (the sticker on the vehicle).

It gets high 20's to low 30's if you pump the tires up to 32psi.  It rides like a brick, but I prefer to use less gas.
